A UK government science advisor cautioned Sunday that continuous lockdowns simply “delay the problem”– and cautioned that a third wave of the coronavirus next year is “completely possible.”
Mark Woolhouse, who rests on Britains Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (SPI-M), dismissed the UKs most current lockdown as trying to “stick this out for another six months” in the vague hope a vaccine will become extensively readily available.
” I need to say that the majority of people I have actually spoken with who are associated with vaccine advancement believe that we might have a vaccine in six months, but it is skeptical that we will have been able to roll it out on a mass scale by that time,” he stated on the BBCs Andrew Marr program.
” So we remain in a difficult circumstance for some months to come I hesitate,” he warned as a 2nd wave devastates Europe.
Modeling recommends that a third wave is “completely possible,” he cautioned.
” This is simply another demo that lockdown does not fix the issue, it postpones it,” he said.
” That is why we require some type of cavalry on the horizon or, alternatively, if we think that vaccine is not going to be offered in 6 months, or 12 months or more years or whenever it might be, that we do require options.”
